Jul 01, 2025 Neha wins a poster prize for discussing her research at the international conference on Diffusion Fundamentals!
Jun 16, 2025 The lab is excited to welcome and host several summer visitors - Ashley Cohen, a Mathematics major from Duke + NITMB REU intern, Brianna Lemisch, a Biology major from UMass Amherst + CSB SynBREU intern, and Varsha Gururaj, a MS candidate here at NU ChBE! We celebrated by having a lab picnic by the lake here in Chicago and playing viking chess.
Jun 01, 2025 Krishna gave a (2 hour!) talk at the KITP summer workshop on “Physical principles shaping biomolecular condensates” discussing the lab’s work on RNA-mediated organization of the nucleus as well as on computational capabilities of condensates. Thanks to the organizers for the invitation to present and for organizing such an awesome meeting by the ocean in Santa Barbara. As a bonus, Ethan and Mary from the lab joined for a few days during an action-packed week of conference talks and we got a chance to walk the beach and eat pizza!
May 12, 2025 Krishna organized the first Chicago Condensate Day, attended by our lab and condensate experts and newcomers from Chicago - kindly supported by the NITMB! It was a blast - Ethan from the lab gave a “lightning” talk along with 2 other trainees - Alisha from UIC and Li Wen from UofC . We had excellent keynotes from Profs. Allan Drummond, Wilton Snead, and Jingyi Fei, and we are excited for the next one already!
Mar 20, 2025 The second preprint from the lab is out! This represents a fun multi-year collaboration with the amazing Snead and Gladfelter labs (kick-started during the Physiology course at MBL, Woods Hole in 2021 where Krishna finally learnt how pipettes work) and led in lab by graduate student Mary Skillicorn. This paper explores the mechanisms that underlie assembly of an important nuclear condensate called the paraspeckle!
Feb 22, 2025 Neha and Mary gave a lab tour to middle and high school students and shared their excitement about all things science and engineering!
Feb 03, 2025 Shrinivas Lab celebrates 1 year!
Jan 09, 2025 Neha is awarded the CSB Postdoctoral Fellowship to support her research to bridge machine learning approaches with synthetic biology for de novo design of intrinsically disordered proteins and condensates.
Dec 15, 2024 First year ChBE graduate students Kaden DiMarco and Jackson Boodry join the lab!
Dec 06, 2024 We celebrated the end of quarter and holidays with pizza, crafts, and board games!
Nov 01, 2024 Neha Tyagi joins as the lab’s first postdoctoral fellow. We welcomed her and rotation students (Kaden, Kenna, Jackson, and Samantha) with an ice-cream sundae party.

Oct 11, 2024 The first preprint from the lab outlines how to bridge machine learning technology and statistical physics for the computational design of shape-shifting biomolecules called intrinsically disordered proteins.
Sep 01, 2024 Congratulations to Ethan and Mary for receiving training grant fellowships!
Feb 27, 2024 First year ChBE graduate students Ethan Halingstad and Mary Skillicorn join the lab!
Feb 01, 2024 Shrinivas Lab opens today - February 1. 2024!
